The Difference Between Vented and Unvented Hot Water Systems
Vented hot water cylinders rely on a header tank, typically installed in the loft, to supply low-pressure water to the cylinder.
Ideal for homes with low mains water pressure, these systems require less maintenance as they are not pressurised.
Conversely, unvented hot water cylinders are fed directly by the cold-water mains, providing high-pressure water throughout the property. This makes them suitable for larger homes with multiple bathrooms, offering ample hot water on demand. While vented systems are cost-effective and simpler, unvented systems deliver better performance and efficiency for modern households with higher water usage needs.
